The Bivy Stick MESH (model 4620) adds a LoRa radio to the Iridium modem. Units near each other can message and share positions directly, without spending satellite credits, and pass messages along the group. Group Track shows everyone on the app map. Compared with the original Bivy Stick, the body is sealed to IP67 instead of IPX7, the battery is rated at 145 hours instead of 120, and a separate reserve battery keeps SOS working for 24 hours after the main cell runs out. The device weighs 3.95 oz and costs $299.95.
It makes the most sense for groups: hunting parties, guided trips, families splitting up around a big trailhead. For a solo hiker the mesh does nothing, and the regular Bivy Stick does the same satellite job for $100 less. Plans work the same way, with rollover credits and a dedicated number. Typing still happens in the Bivy app on your phone.
