The SK-6 is Arai's karting helmet, certified to Snell K2020 and built on the same rounded shell philosophy the company applies to its road models. The outer skin is hand laid composite, the eyeport is unusually tall for a kart lid, and air enters at the brow and leaves through the rear diffuser. Sizes run from roughly 54 to 62 centimetres. The finish, from the shield mechanism to the stitching of the liner, explains a price two or three times that of a budget helmet.
Senior karters who suffer pressure points in cheaper shells tend to stay with Arai once they have worn one. The catch is homologation: K2020 is a kart standard, not the CMR label CIK-FIA junior categories demand, so the series regulations decide whether this helmet is legal. Graphics choice is thin, mostly plain white or black, and it is heavier than a carbon CMR shell.
