Carter Evolution 3-Finger Release

Brand: Carter Enterprises

0

Carter's Evolution has no trigger at all. Hold the safety down while drawing, let it go at anchor, then keep increasing pull until the release fires on its own, somewhere between roughly 12 and 30 pounds depending on the spring installed. Three finger handheld, machined and hand assembled in Idaho, and known mainly as a cure for target panic. Because timing depends on the pull, nobody can punch it.

Coaches hand this one to shooters who flinch, and it works, provided the archer accepts a slow learning curve. It is not a hunting release: on a live animal the shot goes when the resistance says so, which is the wrong moment more often than not. Price sits well above wrist strap territory, and it needs the right spring for the bow's holding weight to feel civilized.

Pros

  • Resistance activation, impossible to punch
  • Spring range covers about 12 to 30 pounds
  • Safety allows a controlled draw
  • Proven training tool against target panic
  • Hand assembled in Idaho

Cons

  • Poor choice as a hunting release
  • Steep learning curve without coaching
  • Needs the correct spring for your bow
  • Expensive next to trigger releases
