Janome MyLock 634D Serger

Brand: Janome 8002D

0

MyLock 634D is the middle step in Janome's serger range, a 2/3/4 thread machine whose lower looper threads itself: the thread drops into a slot and a lever pushes it through. Speed reaches 1,300 stitches per minute, differential feed and stitch length set by dial, and it takes standard household needles rather than special ones. Four marked lay-in tension dials sit on the front, and rolled hems need no extra plate.

A sensible step up for someone whose first cheap serger caused more unpicking than sewing. It runs quieter than most machines in the class and holds an even stitch on jersey and fleece. The plastic cover feels lighter than the price hints, and there is no coverstitch or display. Blades and feet come from dealers, so a spare knife in the drawer saves a wait.

  • Takes standard household needles
