Nokta The Legend
The Legend was Nokta's first simultaneous multi frequency detector and it undercut the Minelab camp by a few hundred dollars, which is why it turns up on beaches so often. Rated IP68 and submersible to 10 ft, it runs beach programmes plus single frequencies from 4 to 40 kHz for gold and relics. Kits ship with wireless headphones and either the 12 inch LG15 or the 12 by 9 inch LG30 coil, and the later Next Generation version added a carbon fibre shaft and a redesigned arm cuff. Firmware updates are free and installed over USB.
Good value for a first serious machine or a second detector kept in the car boot. Buyers should check which coil and headphone bundle they are paying for, since listings differ widely. Recovery speed in heavy iron is decent, though the tone system feels busier than Garrett's simpler audio.
