A rake sweeps solids into a covered compartment a set time after the cat leaves, while the crystals absorb urine and dry out the rest, which is why the smell stays low without a fan. The Complete Plus version adds a hood that keeps crystals off the floor, and the trays have a plastic lining against leaks.

Good pick for a single cat household where nobody wants to touch litter for two or three weeks at a stretch. The catch is the running cost: every tray is a purchase, and using loose crystals in a washable tray only partly solves it. Cats used to soft clay sometimes refuse the sharp crystals, and the rake needs a level floor to move properly.
