A budget Langstroth kit with one deep box and one medium box, 10 deep and 10 medium frames with foundation, metal topped roof, inner cover, queen excluder, bottom board and entrance reducer. Frames come unassembled, boxes are pine with a metal clad lid that keeps rain out of end grain. Matching parts from the same line, such as extra supers and the plastic hive stand, fit without shimming.
This is the price bracket for a trial hive, a school project or a spare set kept in reserve. The pine is thinner than on specialist woodenware and the joints deserve a check before painting. Frames need nailing, and foundation is plastic rather than wax. Nothing for the beekeeper is in the box: veil, gloves and smoker come separately.
