A small raised hutch built from a wood frame with wire panels, a shingle style hinged roof and a wire floor over a slide out tray. The enclosed section gives shelter and a place to nest, while the wired area keeps young birds visible and airy. It is designed for chicks growing out of the brooder, for bantams or for a pair of small hens rather than a full laying flock.
The practical use most owners find is as a second unit: a grow out pen, an isolation box for a sick bird, or a broody coop kept beside the main house. As a primary coop it is undersized and its wire floor offers little warmth in winter. Assembly is quick and the tray makes daily cleaning a two minute task.
