Zamp aimed the RZ-42Y at parents facing their first CMR helmet bill. It carries Snell-FIA CMR2016 certification, the standard cadet and junior scrutineers require, at roughly a third of what the European names ask. Sizes run from 52 to 58 centimetres, the shell is composite, the interior is removable, and a clear shield is fitted in the box. Amazon and Walmart both stock it, usually in black, white or silver.
For a nine year old who may outgrow the helmet in two seasons, that arithmetic is difficult to argue with. The compromises are visible: ventilation is basic, padding is plainer than a Bell or OMP interior, and the fit runs tight, so measuring the head before ordering saves a return trip. Colours are solid, with no graphic ranges, and the model stops at junior sizes, so the next helmet will be a fresh purchase.
