bunq holds a Dutch banking licence and markets itself to remote workers and freelancers across Europe, with deposits protected up to 100,000 euros under the Dutch guarantee scheme. Business plans range from a cheap entry tier to premium options, and even the basic account supports multiple sub accounts, local IBANs in several countries, cards in different currencies and automatic setting aside of VAT. Receipts can be scanned and matched to transactions, accounting exports feed into common software, and the app runs in a long list of languages.

Attractive for freelancers who move between EU countries or invoice in mixed currencies while wanting a licensed bank behind the app. Downsides: nearly everything useful sits on a paid plan, the fee structure has changed several times, and cash handling is minimal. Support is chat first, and account opening for non EU residents is restricted.
