One of the oldest carnivorous plant nurseries in the United States, running since 1989 and now based in Sebastopol, north of San Francisco. Co-founder Peter D'Amato wrote "The Savage Garden", the book most growers in the hobby start with. The catalogue is wide: Venus flytraps, Sarracenia, Nepenthes, Drosera, Pinguicula, Cephalotus, Darlingtonia. Plants are grown on site in greenhouses, not bought in and resold, and orders ship across the country.
Good pick for someone who wants a named cultivar and not a random flytrap from a garden centre. Stock rotates by season, so a plant that is listed in spring can vanish by August. Public access to the greenhouse has changed over the years and hours are limited, so the site is worth checking before driving out. Prices sit above supermarket level, which is fair for the size and quality of the plants.
