The studios sit under the Capitol Records Tower at 1750 Vine Street, finished in 1956 and still the most recognizable building in Hollywood. Three rooms, A, B and C, plus mastering suites, and eight underground echo chambers developed with Les Paul that engineers still patch into mixes. A retractable wall joins A and B into a space of more than 2,700 square feet, enough for roughly 75 players, which is why film, jazz and orchestral dates land here. House instruments include a New York Steinway B, a Yamaha C9 and a Hammond B-3.
Strong choice for big band, strings and anything that needs a real room and real chambers. Mastering can be done in the same building, which saves shipping files around. Not a cheap place to experiment: rates match the address, the diary is shared with label projects, and a small indie band tracking three songs may find the scale more than they need.
