Diamondback Ironworks is a small North Carolina shop in Bessemer City that has been selling gas forges to smiths since 2004. Owner Dennis Meyers came out of production fabrication work he started back in 1990, and he still designs and welds the forges himself. The line splits in three: bare bones Series 1 from about $295, Series 2 with work support and door options ($350 to $465), and Series 3 with bigger doors, $365 for a 1 burner Knifemaker up to $750 for the 3 burner Metalsmith. There is also the Billet Master, built for heavy daily use.
Floors are dense ceramic firebrick, walls and ceiling get ceramic fiber blanket, and forges arrive complete except for the propane tank. Good pick for someone on a budget who still wants a welded steel body. Buyers wanting a polished web store and instant stock should know this is a one man operation, selling also through Etsy and eBay.
