Dive Right In Scuba was opened in 2006 in Plainfield, Illinois by Rod and Mike Pedersen, father and son, and has since added a second shop in Orland Park. Reputation rests on technical gear: sidemount systems and harnesses from Dive Rite, XDEEP and Hollis, drysuits, canister lights, rebreather support, plus tanks, valves and fittings that most recreational shops never stock. The team also teaches courses and runs Lake Michigan trips, wrecks included.
Good fit for a diver moving from a single tank into doubles, sidemount or cold water, since staff configure the kit rather than just box it. Casual snorkelers will find the range narrow and the emphasis serious. Store hours end at 8pm on weekdays and the shop closes Sundays, when the team is usually out diving.
