Divers Direct began in 1984 at the docks of a Key Largo hotel and turned into Florida's biggest dive retail chain, with stores stretching from Orlando down to Key West and headquarters in Dania Beach. Showrooms are large and stocked for the way Floridians dive: scuba, snorkeling, freediving and spearfishing side by side, with Aqualung, Scubapro, Cressi, Mares, Tusa, Koah and Riffe on the racks, plus outdoor apparel from Pelagic, Huk and Costa.
Worth the visit if you want to handle a fin or try a mask before paying, and the staff dive the local reefs year round, which shows in their advice. Technical divers will find the selection thinner than at specialist shops, and prices sit closer to retail than to discount. Outside Florida it works as a web store only.
