Due North Everyday G3
Due North belongs to SureWerx and is aimed at people who need traction as part of the job rather than as gear. The Everyday G3 is a low profile moulded over shoe with tungsten carbide spikes, pre shaped so it snaps on quickly and adapts to the curve of a shoe or a boot without much fiddling. Carbide holds an edge far longer than plain steel, which is why the same spikes appear on industrial models.
It is a plain, cheap, effective device: light in a coat pocket, easy to hand out to a crew, sold through safety distributors as much as outdoor shops. The trade off is coverage. A low profile shell puts fewer contact points on the ice than a chain, and on deep unbroken snow it does little. Colour coded sizes help, though wide winter boots sit at the top of the range and can stretch the shell out of shape.
