Ernest Wright has been making scissors by hand in Sheffield since 1902, now at the Kutrite Works in the city centre with a small team. The left-handed patterns are properly built, not reversed labels: 8.25 inch dressmaker shears weighing 180 g with 9.5 cm blades, and 10 inch sidebent tailor shears. Steel is drop forged carbon, finished by hand polishing, and each pair arrives in a presentation box. The site prices in GBP, USD or EUR and ships worldwide, and US cutlery shops carry the shears too.
For a lefty who sews seriously and wants one pair for decades, this is the top of the range. The price sits far above mass market scissors, stock is limited, in stock orders go out within about 10 days and backorders take longer. Carbon steel needs wiping and a drop of oil, otherwise it spots.
