Holland Bowl Mill in Holland, Michigan traces back to 1926, when the building was a wooden shoe factory; the bowl business became its own company in 1984. Bowls are turned from solid beech, maple, cherry, walnut and red oak logs from Michigan and Midwest forests, then sanded and finished by hand. The range covers small nut bowls up to large serving bowls, plus cutting boards, spoons and other kitchen pieces, and the mill supplies retailers in all fifty states.
The showroom on James Street lets visitors see turning up close and pick a bowl by eye, which mail order cannot match. Choice of decorative shapes is narrower than at design led studios, and big bowls in walnut cost noticeably more than the maple ones. Wholesale pricing is available by phone for shops and crafters.
