Threading is manual along color-coded paths, with a lower looper that swings out, so the first evening belongs to the manual. That effort pays off for anyone sewing garments weekly and makes little sense for someone who finishes a seam twice a year. The machine wants regular brushing and a drop of oil; neglect that and the knife and loopers start announcing themselves.
