Master Lock began in 1921, when locksmith Harry Soref patented a padlock body built from layers of laminated steel. That idea carried the firm for a century, along with the ads in which marksmen shot at padlocks and failed. It now belongs to Fortune Brands Innovations and sits beside American Lock and SentrySafe, the fire safe brand founded in 1930. Milwaukee production ended in 2024 and the head office moved to Illinois, so the catalogue comes from several plants and outside suppliers.
The range runs from cheap luggage locks to Bluetooth padlocks such as the 4400EC, opened by phone through the Vault app with shared access and a usage log. For gates, gyms, lockers and job sites it is the safe default: replacements sit on every hardware shelf, keyed alike sets are easy to order. Anyone chasing high security hardware will find the entry models pickable.
