NPTEL is the Indian government open courseware project run by the IITs and IISc, and its Interior Design course from IIT Roorkee is the closest thing here to a university module. It runs on a twelve week academic schedule with weekly video lectures, transcripts, assignments and discussion, and it covers furniture within interior space: anthropometry, layout, materials, lighting and the practice side of a project. Lectures stay online after the term, so the material can be watched out of season.
For people who like structure, references and a lecturer at a whiteboard, this is a serious free option. Studying costs nothing; the certificate requires a proctored exam at a test centre with a fee, which mostly makes sense for learners in India. The pace is academic, the delivery is formal, and there is no software workshop attached.
