Nuts.com grew out of a Newark market stall opened in 1929 and is still run by the same family, third generation at the counter. For bakers the pull is bulk: blanched almond flour, hazelnut and pecan meal, gluten free blends, dried and freeze dried fruit, chocolate chips and wafers, sprinkles, poppy and sesame seed, in sizes from one pound up to 25 pound cases. Nuts are roasted and milled to order in New Jersey, which is why the almond flour smells like almonds and not cardboard.
A sound pick for anyone baking in volume or chasing nut flours at a sane price per pound. Less useful for hydrocolloids, block couverture or European milled flours, which the catalog barely touches. Packaging leans on resealable plastic, convenient but it piles up, and a small single order pays freight unless the cart reaches the free threshold.
