The New York Institute of Art and Design sells a six unit distance course that starts with assembling a toolkit, moves through the history and principles of floral design, then into arrangements, event work and building an online presence. Students get up to eighteen months to finish, work at their own pace, receive one on one feedback from working designers on submitted projects and end with a floral design certificate. There is a short risk free trial period, and paying in full costs noticeably less than the monthly plan.
Reasonable for someone who wants structure and a tutor reading their work rather than a video library. Wedding flowers are part of the curriculum, not the whole of it, so a florist looking only for bridal training will pay for units they do not need. The certificate is a school certificate, not a state licence or AIFD credential.
