The Pennsylvania Association of Numismatists holds its coin show twice a year, in May and October, Thursday through Saturday at the Monroeville Convention Center just east of Pittsburgh. Around 250 dealers take part, which puts it well above a typical state show and close to the level of a regional convention. Specialist groups set up tables as well: CONECA, the error and variety collectors' organization, regularly staffs one, and grading services accept submissions.
Admission and parking are both free, a detail that visitors used to city convention centers appreciate. The atmosphere is closer to a club gathering than a trade fair, and dealers have time to explain a piece. It is a practical choice for collectors in western Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. Those hunting top rarities or major auctions will find the selection narrower than at the national conventions.
Address: Monroeville Convention Center, 209 Mall Blvd, Monroeville, PA
