Private Internet Access, usually shortened to PIA, has been selling VPN service for more than ten years and lists servers in 91 countries. Its infrastructure runs on RAM-only servers, and its apps are open source, which is still uncommon. The monthly plan is $11.95. The two-year plan has been priced around $56.94, which works out to about $2 a month with bonus months, and one subscription covers unlimited devices.
For gamers, the useful feature is port forwarding, available on servers outside the US. It helps with strict NAT and with hosting game servers or lobbies. The apps offer lots of settings: protocol choice, encryption strength and split tunneling to keep a game launcher outside the tunnel. That level of control appeals to people who like tuning things, while beginners may find the menus heavy. Some streaming platforms still block its IPs.
