QRP was built in Salina, Kansas by Chad Kassem of Acoustic Sounds to press his own Analogue Productions reissues to a standard he could not buy elsewhere. The plant runs a small number of rebuilt presses, uses Clarity and heavyweight 180 and 200 gram compounds, and inspects records by hand instead of relying only on automated checks. Its catalogue of jazz and blues reissues is a familiar sight in audiophile shops.
Anyone releasing something mastered from tape, cut by a name engineer and sold at premium price will find the workflow matches. Everyone else may struggle: capacity is modest, the queue is dominated by in house projects, and per unit costs sit well above mainstream plants. Colour gimmicks and picture discs are not the specialty here, flat quiet black vinyl is.
