Record Industry
The Haarlem factory was originally the Dutch pressing plant of CBS and later Sony, taken over in 1998 and rebuilt as an independent business. It now runs 33 presses with a stated capacity of 40,000 to 50,000 records a day, covering 7, 10 and 12 inch in black and colour, which puts it among the most automated plants in Europe.
The setup favours European labels that need volume without shipping across the Atlantic: galvanics, pressing and quality control sit on one site, and the plant is a regular manufacturer for Record Store Day titles. Being a heritage industrial operation, it is less flexible on tiny artisanal runs and exotic finishing than boutique workshops. Anyone in the Netherlands or nearby gets the bonus of short freight and the chance to visit during Haarlem's vinyl events.
