An after school math program founded in 1997 in Newton, Massachusetts by two engineers who missed the depth of the math they had studied themselves. RSM teaches in small classes by level, not by age, and the course runs the whole school year, like a second school rather than a tutoring drop in. The curriculum leans on mental work and reasoning: children are pushed to explain why a solution works, and algebra ideas appear early. There are campuses across the United States plus an online division.
Suits families who plan years ahead and want a child to be strong in advanced math, competitions and honors classes. It is not the place for quick homework rescue: enrollment is by term, classes have a fixed timetable, and a student who misses a lot falls behind the group. The load is real, and a child who already dislikes math may find it heavy.
