Scuba Center has been teaching and outfitting Minnesota divers since 1973 and keeps two stores, the original one on Penn Avenue South in Minneapolis and a larger site in Eagan. It was the state's first PADI 5 Star training facility and now runs one of the biggest dive schools in the Midwest. The gear side leans cold water: drysuits and undergarments, dry gloves, sealed regulators, plus public safety and water rescue equipment for fire and sheriff teams.
Sound advice for anyone diving Minnesota lakes or Lake Superior, where a tropical setup simply will not do, and for departments buying rescue kit. Retail hours are short, mostly afternoons, with Sunday closed, so a visit needs planning. The online catalog is modest and inventory tilts away from warm water travel gear.
