United Record Pressing
Nashville's URP started life in 1949 as Southern Plastics, the same year the 45 rpm single appeared, and grew into the largest pressing plant in the United States. The 7 inch remains its signature format: decades of jukebox singles, early Motown pressings and indie 45s came off these machines. The company later moved into a much larger Allied Drive facility and added presses to cope with the vinyl boom.
Labels ordering in the thousands get the strongest deal here, with 7, 10 and 12 inch formats, colour and specialty options handled internally. Smaller clients should expect queue times that stretch when major label work fills the calendar, and reviews from indie customers are mixed on communication speed. The historic Music City address also means tours and a real showroom, which not every factory offers.
