African Ancestry PatriClan Test Kit
PatriClan is the paternal half of the African Ancestry pair. It reads Y chromosome markers, so only men can give the sample, though a daughter or sister can buy the kit for a father, brother or uncle. The report names the country and the ethnic group linked to the father's father line, again against the firm's African lineage collection instead of a customer pool. Paternal results that are not African come back simply as European or Asian.
Handy when a surname trail dies in the 1870 census and the goal is a place of origin. Two limits matter. Women cannot use their own DNA here, and a fair share of African American men receive a non African paternal result, which lands hard if nobody warned them. Collection is a cheek swab and results take several weeks.
