The Atlas Mini Forge is hand built in Iowa by Atlas Knife and Tool, with a stainless shell and a chamber just 2.5 inches across and 11 inches deep, plus a 2 inch rear pass through. Small volume plus insulating firebrick, not ceramic wool, means more than 600 BTU per cubic inch from a single 30,000 BTU burner and temperatures in the 2350F range. A 0 to 20 PSI regulator with hose and a sliding tool rest are included, and propane use works out near a dollar an hour.
Bladesmiths are the target audience: knife billets, small Damascus, quick heats without waiting for a big body to soak. The narrow round chamber rules out horseshoes, thick scrollwork and anything wide, and the firebrick liner chips if tongs are dragged across it. For a garage with limited space and a propane bill that matters, the size is the feature.
