Garrett Sea Hunter Mark II

Brand: Garrett Sea Hunter Mark II

0

The Sea Hunter Mark II is a pulse induction detector aimed at salt water, black sand and diving, submersible to 200 ft. Pulse induction simply ignores the ground conditions that confuse VLF machines, so the surf zone that makes cheaper detectors scream is where this one behaves. There is no screen and no target ID: audio only, with a Standard mode and Discrete Trash Elimination that lets small trash be tuned out at the cost of some gold. Eight AA batteries, hip or chest mount, 8 inch mono coil.

A serious tool for wreck divers and anyone working knee to shoulder depth water for gold and old coins. Not a beginner machine: heavy on the arm, blind to target identity, and it will have the owner digging plenty of lead and foil. Anyone who mostly walks dry sand will find a modern VLF detector faster and far lighter.

Pros

  • Pulse induction ignores salt and black sand
  • Submersible to 200 ft
  • Discrete Trash Elimination mode
  • Hip and chest mount options
  • Common AA batteries
  • Proven design used by pros

Cons

  • No screen and no target ID
  • Heavy to swing for hours
  • Digs plenty of foil and lead
  • Overkill for dry sand hunting
