A 3.5 pound organic block of lion's mane, shipped colonised and grown in the United States in small batches. The block is cut open, kept humid and misted, and typically pins within one to two weeks, producing white cascading clusters that can be harvested when the spines reach about a centimetre. A second flush is common after a short rest and rehydration.
Compared with the four pound blocks, it is lighter and easier to fit on a shelf, which matters in a small kitchen. Freshness of the block on arrival makes the difference here, so it is worth starting it soon after delivery rather than storing it for weeks. As with any lion's mane, dry indoor air in winter is the main obstacle, and a humidity tent solves most problems.
