October Mountain Mountaineer 2.0 Recurve Bow 62"

Brand: October Mountain Products

0

The Mountaineer 2.0 is OMP's mid range takedown, 62 inches, with a laminated hard maple and dymondwood riser, wood and fiberglass limbs and brass bushings for a sight, plunger and stabilizer. Limbs come off with two bolts, so the bow packs flat into a case, and a Dacron string is included. It sits above the entry Explorer models and below the Adventure target bows in the same family, closer to a hunting weight bow than a school one.

The practical draw here is service: OMP is a US distributor with a full parts and accessory line, so replacement limbs, rests and strings ship without hunting for an overseas seller. Downside is that the limbs are not ILF, so upgrades are limited to what OMP sells. The stock string is basic, the shelf needs a proper rest for consistent arrow flight, and the grip is fuller than a Sage, which suits big hands and annoys small ones.

Pros

  • Two bolt takedown, packs flat
  • Brass bushings for sight and stabilizer
  • Maple and dymondwood laminated riser
  • US distributor, parts easy to order
  • Stronger grip fill for large hands

Cons

  • Limb fitting is not ILF standard
  • Included Dacron string is basic
  • Grip too thick for small hands
  • Finish thinner than on Bear bows
