Brand: The Root Mushroom Farm
Cordyceps militaris grows nothing like an oyster block: the kit produces orange club shaped fruiting bodies on a nutrient rich substrate, and it needs light to develop colour. The cycle is measured in weeks, not days, with a colonisation phase in the dark followed by fruiting under a lamp at roughly 18 to 21 degrees Celsius and high humidity.
A project for someone who has already grown a couple of easy kits and wants something more demanding. It is the species home growers buy for tinctures and teas rather than the frying pan, since the fruiting bodies are usually dried. Contamination risk is higher than with hardwood blocks because the substrate is rich, so clean handling and stable temperature are not optional.
