The Tab A9+ is the budget end of the Galaxy Tab line: an 11-inch 1920 by 1200 screen with 90Hz, the Snapdragon 695, 64GB or 128GB of storage, microSD support and a 7,040mAh battery. Quad speakers with Dolby Atmos make lecture audio clear without headphones. It listed at 219 dollars and often sells nearer 175.
As a cheap second screen for video courses, practice tests and e-books it does the job, and Samsung promises several years of Android updates, which is unusual at this price. It does not support the S Pen at all, so handwritten notes mean a rubber-tipped stylus and lowered expectations. RAM starts at 4GB, so juggling a browser with dozens of tabs and a PDF reader leads to reloads. The screen is bright enough indoors, less so outside.
