Announced in October 2023 and now regularly discounted well below its 449 dollar launch price, the Tab S9 FE is the rare mid range tablet that includes the S Pen in the box. The 10.9 inch 90 Hz LCD is bright, the Exynos 1380 keeps note apps and browser based question banks moving, and the 8000 mAh battery holds up through a long revision session. IP68 rating means a spilled coffee in the reading room is not automatically a disaster.
Two practical wins for students: microSD expansion for lecture recordings and Samsung Notes, which converts handwriting to text and syncs to a phone or PC for free. The screen is LCD rather than AMOLED, so deep blacks are missing, and the chipset shows its limits with demanding 3D work or long video exports. Charging is slow by current standards. As a study slate with a pen already paid for, it is hard to argue with.
