The E10 looks like a pair of ordinary wireless earbuds, which is exactly the point: nobody assumes hearing aids. It is rechargeable, holds about 26 hours per charge, and comes with a pocket case that tops it up. Self fitting happens in the Sony Hearing Control app, and the same app handles volume and tone. Bluetooth lets an iPhone send music and calls straight into the devices. The 1,299 dollar launch price has come down considerably at Amazon, Walmart and Best Buy.

Good for mild to moderate loss, and especially for anyone who already lives with earbuds. Less good for all day wear: the earbud shape blocks the canal more than a slim tube design, and Android streaming is not supported, so half the phone market misses the best trick. Charging discipline is part of the deal, a forgotten case means a silent evening.

Pros

  • Earbud styling that reads as consumer audio
  • About 26 hours per charge plus pocket case
  • Bluetooth music and calls from iPhone
  • App based self fitting and tone control
  • Often discounted well below launch price

Cons

  • No Bluetooth streaming from Android
  • Occlusion during long wearing sessions
  • Daily charging is unavoidable
  • Bulkier in the ear than canal models
