A budget steel safe of 1.24 cubic feet with a digital lock, certified in the lab for 30 minutes at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. Two hinges sit outside the body to slow heat transfer, and a layer of fire resistant plaster lines the walls. Four solid one inch bolts resist prying, and the whole thing weighs about 45 pounds. Keys are supplied for emergency opening.
Reasonable for a first safe, a rented flat or a small shop where the point is to stop a casual thief and buy time in a fire. The rating is the weak spot: 1200 degrees for half an hour is well under the UL one hour class, and there is no water rating at all. At 45 pounds it must be bolted down, or it leaves with the burglar.
