XP Deus II
XP built the Deus II around one idea: no cable. The coil transmits wirelessly to the remote control or straight to the headphones, so nothing dangles into the water. Its FMF system covers 4 to 45 kHz simultaneously, twelve factory programmes include beach settings for damp sand and surf, and the whole package, coil, remote and WS6 headphones, is waterproof to 20 m. With the 9 inch coil the setup is light on the arm, and lithium batteries recharge over USB.
The French machine appeals to hunters who want depth in salt water plus reasonable weight, and who intend to build their own programmes rather than trust presets. It is expensive, the remote screen is small, and standard wired headphones cannot be used. Firmware updates arrive regularly, which is welcome, though pairing coils and headphones after an update needs a manual to hand.
