ZOLEO has no screen at all. The device is a rugged Iridium modem with SOS and check-in buttons, and all messaging runs through the free ZOLEO app. The app sends each message over the cheapest channel available (satellite, cellular or Wi-Fi), so conversations carry on when you get back into coverage. Every device gets a dedicated US SMS number and an email address. It weighs 150 g (5.3 oz), is rated IP68 and MIL-STD 810G, and lasts 200+ hours when checking for messages every 12 minutes. The ZOLEO 1500, released in July 2026 at $199, adds USB-C, Bluetooth LE 5.2, a white Limestone shell and a two-year warranty. The original ZL1000 still sells for around $149.
The Prepare plan costs $19.99 a month for 50 satellite messages, and Protect costs $34.99 for unlimited. The dedicated number makes it easy for older relatives, who just text a normal phone number. Without a phone you only have SOS and check-in. There is no navigation, and Location Share+ tracking is a paid add-on.
