Avaz is made by Avaz Inc, a team from Chennai, and it is one of the few serious AAC apps that lives on both iPad and Android tablets. A child can switch between picture mode and a keyboard in the same sentence, which helps kids who read a little but not enough to type everything. There is a 14 day trial with no card required, then monthly, yearly or lifetime payment. Vocabularies exist in English, Swedish, Danish, Hungarian, Tamil and Sinhala, among others.

Handy for families outside the English speaking world and for anyone who wants backups saved to their own Google Drive. Dark mode with high contrast helps users with weak vision and those working through eye tracking. The trade off is the subscription: stop paying and the full app stops working, unless the lifetime licence was bought. Some users also report the editing screens feel crowded on small tablets.
