Two students founded the company in Oakland in 2009, and the mushroom farm kit is still the flagship: open the window, mist twice a day, harvest in about ten days. It is the easiest kit to find offline, sitting on shelves in big garden and grocery chains, and the price sits at the low end of the market. Every product carries a grow promise, and a dead kit is replaced after an email to support.
Best as a gift or a first try with kids, since the box needs no tools and no clean space. Weaker for anyone who wants volume: the block is small, the second flush is much thinner than the first, and the choice of species is basically oyster. People who want lion's mane or shiitake will need another supplier.
