Bell has been building competition helmets since 1954, when its California workshop produced one of the first purpose built auto racing lids. The motorsport division, Bell Racing Helmets, now operates out of Bahrain and Europe and supplies Formula 1, rally and karting grids. Its street and powersports helmets belong to a separate company.
