Cajun Classic
McWare, registered as Mcware/Cajun Classic Castiron Cookware, Inc., works out of Mamou, Louisiana, in Acadiana. The name joins founder McGee's surname to the "ware" in cookware, and the pots have sold since 1999, the year the original Magnalite foundry in Sidney, Ohio closed. Two lines carry the business: polished cast aluminum roasters and dutch ovens following the old Magnalite shapes, and Cajun Classic cast iron, from 4 qt woks and skillets up to 5 and 10 gallon jambalaya pots with hooks and stands.
The pitch is plain: familiar geometry and heat behavior for far less than collectors pay for vintage Magnalite. Cooks who want metal cast in the United States should look elsewhere, since production of this category moved offshore. Buying goes through dealers, as the shop pages serve only as a reference and the "Places to Purchase" tab lists Louisiana stores and online sellers.
