Choiceworks was written by Bee Visual, a tiny company started by a mother of two, and it does one thing: turns the day into pictures. Four board types cover the schedule, waiting, feelings and a feelings scale. Around 180 images ship with it, and families add their own photos, their own recorded voice, even short video clips, so the picture of bath time is the actual bathroom at home. Boards read out loud in a child or adult voice, and separate profiles keep siblings apart.
Bought once, no subscription, which is rare in this category. It helps most with transitions, waiting and meltdowns tied to not knowing what comes next. Limits show up quickly for older kids: the design is aimed at young children, board layouts are fixed, and the picture library still misses plenty of everyday situations.
