CoughDrop is a cloud based communication app, and the cloud part is the whole point. One account follows the child across iPad, Android, Chromebook, Windows and a plain browser, so school and home never argue about which tablet holds the current vocabulary. Parents, teachers and therapists get free supervisor accounts, watch usage reports and adjust boards from their own screens. The code is open source, and boards can be imported from other AAC systems instead of built from zero.
Payment is a subscription for the communicator, with a long term option for families who dislike monthly bills. It fits a child already surrounded by a team of adults who need to coordinate. It fits worse where internet is patchy, since syncing matters, and the board editor asks for patience before it feels natural.
