Govee came to star projectors from smart lighting, and it shows: the Star Projector 2 Pro pairs a four megapixel lens with an app full of ready made scenes, more than twenty of them, plus colour and brightness sliders for anyone who wants to build a scene from scratch. It works with Matter, so it joins an existing smart home alongside Alexa and Google speakers, and it can be timed or grouped with other Govee lights.
Sharper than the usual bedroom nebula lamp and easier to live with thanks to schedules and voice commands. Still a decorative device: the nebulae are painted light, not photographs of the sky, and no constellation is where an atlas would put it. The app is the weak point for those who dislike registering accounts to switch on a lamp.
