Kuhn Rikon is a family run Swiss firm from the village of Rikon, and its Original Swiss Peeler has been in production since 1986 in the tens of millions. The design is the cheap answer for lefties: a Y-shaped body with a horizontal carbon steel blade that cuts the same pulling with either hand, plus an integrated eye remover on the side. It usually ships in colored multipacks, so a couple can live in different drawers without much thought about cost.

Best for a household that wants one peeler everyone can grab, right or left handed, instead of two separate tools. It is not a mirrored product, so anyone who peels with a swivel type blade and a twisting motion will still feel the difference. The carbon blade takes a very fine edge but spots and rusts if left wet in the sink, and there is no way to replace it when it dulls.
